Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. seeks an experienced HSE professional to support site safety and regulatory compliance. The role involves developing safety programs, conducting audits and risk assessments, and guiding incident investigations to reduce injuries and improve safety culture.

You will educate employees, monitor contractor safety, and participate in equipment projects. A BS in a related field and 3+ years of manufacturing HSE experience are preferred, with pharmaceutical exposure

• Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing health and safety systems, programs and procedures to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, and enhance the overall site safety culture.
• Participate in incident investigations and guide root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform facility audits, surveys and inspections to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review and approve risk assessments such as JSA, PPE, ergonomic, FMEA, new chemicals and equipment assessments.
• Support chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation and documentation.
• Educate employees on health and safety practices through training and communications.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Participate in projects for new equipment or safety improvements.

Job Summary

In this role, you will perform activities related to Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) compliance to support the site, location or business needs. Receives technical and strategic oversight and direction from HSE supervisor or manager for the site, location or business but also has enough experience to work unsupervised to accomplish goals and objectives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in developing health and safety systems, programs and procedures to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, and enhance the overall site safety culture resulting in management engagement, employee involvement and the reduction in unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Participate on incident investigations to guide on finding root causes and identifying aligned long‑term corrective actions.
• Perform facility audits, surveys and inspections to identify environmental, safety and occupational hazards and weaknesses, to promote effective practices and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies or process improvement.
• Participates, review and approves risk assessments such as: to Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ergonomic, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), new chemicals, and equipment assessments.
• Support all chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation and documentation.
• Educate employees on how to prevent health problems using safety training programs and communications.
• Support on the monitoring of contractor activities to ensure compliance with West Safety Policies.
• Participate on projects for new equipment or improvement as safety representative.
• Other duties as assigned

Education

BS Degree in Environment, Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or science related field.

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years HSE Experience: 3-5 years of experience required and
• Previous experience in a manufacturing working environment and/or industrial setting required and
• Experience writing and implementing HSE policies and procedures required and
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry experience preferred

• Ability to read, interpret and write documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

License and Certifications

• OSHA 10 preferred
• Lean/six sigma certification preferred
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred

Travel Requirements

5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Shift

Monday- Friday 7:30am, to 4:30pm
