GGP Chicago, located at 350 N Orleans Street, Suite 300, is seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide proactive legal counsel on real estate and corporate matters, focusing on retail lease negotiations and related transactions.

The role requires drafting, negotiating, and reviewing leases, letters of intent, licenses, and related documents; advising internal stakeholders; and supporting development and redevelopment projects within a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• J.D. from a leading law school required.
• Current license to practice law in the U.S.
• Minimum 5 years of substantive legal experience in corporate, contracts, or litigation within a major firm or in-house.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft, and review real estate documents including leases and related agreements to ensure clarity and favorable terms.
• Prepare and evaluate ancillary real estate documents such as LOIs, licenses, easements, and scopes of work.
• Advise internal clients on legal implications of transactions and strategic initiatives; collaborate with cross-functional teams.

As a key member of the legal department, this role supports diverse internal clients by delivering practical, business-oriented legal advice across multiple facets of the Company’s real estate and corporate functions.
