Job summary

CFS in Atlanta is seeking an Assistant Controller to support financial operations and collaborate with senior leadership. You will oversee accounting processes, ensure accurate monthly and annual reporting, and strengthen internal controls in a growing organization.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 3+ years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, ERP and Excel proficiency, and strong analytical and communication skills. CPA track is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification or CPA track preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and support leadership initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting: prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and management reports.
  • Month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Accounting operations: oversee AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and GL activities.
  • Internal controls: maintain and improve accounting policies and controls.
  • Audit support: coordinate documentation for external audits and reviews.
  • Budgeting & analysis: assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Team leadership: mentor accounting staff and model best practices.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller

In this important role, the Assistant Controller will support the accounting department's daily operations and help ensure accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting: The Assistant Controller will assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Month-End Close: Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee and support AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
