Job summary

The Lighthouse for the Blind in New Orleans seeks an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) in Lafayette. This full-time role supports the Pathways to Success Program by using technology to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

You will assess needs, develop tech solutions, train participants, and collaborate with employers and staff across Southeast Louisiana, including travel. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and AT certification are preferred; strong teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, rehabilitation science, or related field; AT certification preferred or in progress.
• Experience in instructing people with disabilities to use technology for independence and employability.
• Ability to travel across Southeast Louisiana and work in diverse settings.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate new assistive technology solutions to improve employability.
• Develop a technology program aligned with Pathways To Success goals.
• Conduct assessments to determine optimal technology and collect progress data.
• Support Lighthouse employees with adaptive skills and technology for career advancement.
• Provide individualized and group training on recommended technologies.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development and employers to integrate tech in work environments.
• Conduct workshops to teach practical skills for assistive technology use.
• Stay current with trends in assistive technology related to employment.
• Maintain technology inventories and ensure devices are updated.
• Advocate for inclusive employment practices among staff and partners.
