Job summary

The Lighthouse for The Blind in New Orleans is seeking an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) Occupational Therapy Assistant to support PTS by assessing, recommending, and training participants on assistive technology that improves access to employment.

The role combines OT expertise with technology knowledge, requires AVT certification or enrollment, and emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and ongoing learning in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Degree and certification to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
• Assistive technology certification (e.g., CSUN ATACP or RESNA ATP) required or willingness to achieve.
• Experience with evaluating and training PWD on assistive tech is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate new assistive technology solutions.
• Develop a technology program aligned with project goals.
• Conduct assessments to identify optimal tech for PWD.
• Provide individualized and group training to ensure independent use of tech.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development and employers to integrate tech solutions.
• Conduct workshops to enable clients and professionals to use assistive tech effectively.
