Job Details

Location: M‑SFE, T‑SFMS, W‑EBES, Th‑SFHS, F‑CCES (SFLC rotated into SFHS rotation). The base location for inner office mail and mileage reimbursement calculation is SFHS.

Hours per day: 8 (6:00 am–2:00 pm).

Type of Position: Continuing.

Salary: (B23) $23.33 – $23.95 per hour plus benefits as outlined in the Nutrition Services Manager work agreement.

Supervisor: Wendy Klobe.

Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma; School Foodservice Experience or relevant experience, Management Experience or relevant education or training; regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Preferred: School Foodservice experience, managerial. Current CFM license or ability to achieve within 90 days; ability to achieve SNA certification within one year; experience working in a warm, noisy, fast‑paced school kitchen/cafeteria environment; P‑K‑12 school experience desired; excellent customer service skills, computer skills, attendance record. Basic understanding of computerized order systems, cycle menus, and production systems; ability to operate all kitchen equipment; ability to work with all personality types and remain positive.

Physical requirements: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force ⅓ of the time, 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Responsibilities
  • Support new and ongoing training of Nutrition Services program staff.
  • Support standard operating procedures that ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations across all district kitchens.
  • Support the ongoing implementation of Nutrition Services technology across all sites such as point‑of‑service, back‑of‑house record keeping, and inventory management.
  • Manage kitchen operations at any district sites when needed.
  • Prepare food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes using commercial foodservice equipment.
  • Assist with food ordering and inventory as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations in the operation of school nutrition programs.
  • Assist with inventory and HACCP logs and work orders.
  • Serve as backup to the Nutrition delivery van driver.
Duties and Skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of USDA child nutrition programs.
  • Maintain cooperative, productive workplace relationships to create a pleasant environment for all served.
  • Operational knowledge of commercial food‑service equipment used in preparing quantity foods.
  • Understand complexity of daily record‑keeping.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of computerized cash registers and software programs.
  • Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Computer literate, proficient in email.
  • Attend monthly kitchen manager meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Special Requirements
  • Certified MN Food Protection Manager within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license in Minnesota and ability to drive delivery van.
