Job summary

GoodWorks Unlimited, LLC in Tennessee seeks a Director of Nursing to oversee medication administration, direct resident care, and supervise staff in a combined office–residential setting. The ideal candidate will hold Tennessee RN licensure in good standing, have geriatrics experience or training, and prior supervisory duties in assisted living, home health, or a nursing home.

They must uphold HIPAA, coordinate with families and physicians, and ensure licensure standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medication administration and proper documentation in MAR
• Provide direct personal care and supervise residents on an individual basis
• Encourage residents in grooming, clothing and personal items
• Supervise all resident care associates
• Respond to accidents or incidents and report promptly
• Provide ongoing medical care, charting, and family/physician communication
• Assist with training and in-service programs
• In DON's absence, oversee total unit operation and licensure compliance
• Assist with quality assurance programs
• Perform occasional housekeeping tasks as needed
• Supervise unit staff and report incidents to DON
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and educate staff on duties

Job description

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Education: Graduate from an accredited school or nursing program and current licensure in the state of Tennessee with good standing.

Experience: Preference in the field of geriatrics either through training or experience. Prior supervisory duties in assisted living, home health or nursing home.

Working conditions: Office and residential setting environment; light lifting; irregular hours; routine engagement with staff, residents and visitors.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

1. Responsible for medication administration and proper documentation in the medication administration record.
2. Responsible for providing the direct personal assistance and supervision needed by the residents, including assisting residents when necessary, on an individual basis, with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, toileting and attending to any personal needs the residents may be incapable of or unable to attend to for themselves.
3. Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing and toilet articles, including care of body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, fingernails, and personal items.
4. Supervise all resident care associates on an ongoing basis.
5. Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and make a proper report of the incident.
6. Provide ongoing medical care such as: giving medications, making assessments, charting and maintaining contact with families and physicians.
7. Assist with the facility's training and inservice programs.
8. In the Director of Nursing's absence, responsible for the total operation of the unit and also responsible to the licensing agency and the monitoring agency for meeting and maintaining the licensure standards.
9. Assist with quality assurance programs.
10. Occasional, non-routine housekeeping tasks such as: wiping up a water spill, helping a resident make a bed or serving residents at meal time and resident care.
11. Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the associate's supervisor.
12. Supervise all staff of duty in the unit.
13. Report any incidents/accidents to Director of Nursing timely.
14. Respecting HIPPA laws and maintaining confidentiality.
15. Provide education to staff to ensure all job duties are understood and being carried out appropriately. Writing up any staff that break the rules as listed in the handbook and ensure they understand that continued unsatisfactory performance could result in termination.
16. Understand all job duties and communicate to supervisor if you do not. You will be held accountable for those job duties and subject to reprimand if they are not performed as trained.
17. Remember always that we work in our resident's homes, and we are to be respectful and caring at all times.
18. Medication Management, dispensing properly and correctly for all residents on the program.
