Job summary

Providence Place in Tennessee is seeking a Nursing Director or equivalent to supervise resident care teams and ensure licensure standards are met. The role includes supervising staff, managing medications, and coordinating with families and physicians.

You will oversee direct resident assistance, training programs, and quality assurance, while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and providing leadership in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program and current licensure in the state of Tennessee with good standing.
• Experience preferred in geriatrics with supervision in assisted living, home health, or nursing home.
• Working conditions include office and residential settings with light lifting and irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Medication administration and documentation in the medication administration record.
• Provide direct personal assistance and supervision for residents with activities of daily living.
• Encourage grooming, clothing, and toiletry care for residents, including personal items.
• Supervise all resident care associates on an ongoing basis.
• Respond to accidents or incidents and report to the Director of Nursing.
• Provide ongoing medical care such as giving medications, assessments, charting, and family communication.
• Assist with training and in-service programs for staff.
• In the Director of Nursing’s absence, oversee unit operations and licensure compliance.
• Assist with quality assurance programs.
• Occasional housekeeping and meal-time assistance for residents.
• Manage and supervise staff on duty; report incidents timely. Ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Provide staff education and disciplinary actions as needed; ensure duties are performed.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

• Education: Graduate from an accredited school or nursing program and current licensure in the state of Tennessee with good standing.
• Experience: Preference in the field of geriatrics either through training or experience. Prior supervisory duties in assisted living, home health or nursing home.
• Working conditions: Office and residential setting environment; light lifting; irregular hours; routine engagement with staff, residents and visitors.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

1. Responsible for medication administration and proper documentation in the medication administration record.
2. Responsible for providing the direct personal assistance and supervision needed by the residents, including assisting residents when necessary, on an individual basis, with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, toileting and attending to any personal needs the residents may be incapable of or unable to attend to for themselves.
3. Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing and toilet articles, including care of body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, fingernails, and personal items.
4. Supervise all resident care associates on an ongoing basis.
5. Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and make a proper report of the incident.
6. Provide ongoing medical care such as: giving medications, making assessments, charting and maintaining contact with families and physicians.
7. Assist with the facility's training and inservice programs.
8. In the Director of Nursing’s absence, responsible for the total operation of the unit and also responsible to the licensing agency and the monitoring agency for meeting and maintaining the licensure standards.
9. Assist with quality assurance programs.
10. Occasional, non-routine housekeeping tasks such as: wiping up a water spill, helping a resident make a bed or serving residents at meal time and resident care.
11. Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the associate's supervisor.
12. Supervise all staff of duty in the unit.
13. Report any incidents/accidents to Director of Nursing timely.
14. Respecting HIPPA laws and maintaining confidentiality.
15. Provide education to staff to ensure all job duties are understood and being carried out appropriately. Writing up any staff that break the rules as listed in the handbook and ensure they understand that continued unsatisfactory performance could result in termination.
16. Understand all job duties and communicate to supervisor if you do not. You will be held accountable for those job duties and subject to reprimand if they are not performed as trained.
17. Remember always that we work in our resident’s homes, and we are to be respectful and caring at all times.
18. Medication Management, dispensing properly and correctly for all residents on the program.
