Job summary

Campbell Street in Des Moines, IA is seeking an Assisted Living Director to lead the community’s operations and ensure high-quality, person-centered care. You will oversee admissions, care plans, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with nursing and clinical partners.

This role focuses on staff development, budget management, resident engagement, and maintaining a compassionate, compliant, and thriving community for residents and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, social services, or related field.
• 2–3+ years of leadership or management experience in assisted living, long-term care, or senior housing.
• Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Assisted Living operations, ensuring high standards of resident care and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations governing assisted living communities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and care practices in alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational expectations.
• Oversee resident admissions, assessments, service plans, and ongoing care coordination.
• Collaborate with nursing, clinical partners, and interdisciplinary teams to support resident health, safety, and well-being.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Assisted Living staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Promote staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for residents and families, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
• Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting are maintained accurately and timely.
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, and operational resources effectively.
• Foster a welcoming, respectful, and resident-centered community culture.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and risk management concerns appropriately.
• Represent the Assisted Living community positively within the organization and the broader community.

POSITION PURPOSE: The Assisted Living Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and quality of care within the Assisted Living community.
