Job summary

Minneota Assisted Living & Home Health Care is seeking a compassionate care aide to provide resident care under the supervision of the licensed nurse, including medication passing and personal care.

You will follow the plan of care, support residents’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, and engage in activities. An ALA may be alone in the building and you must respond to emergencies and document care per policy.

Qualifications

• Passes all competency testing, including medication administration.
• Good communication skills; able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Successful Minnesota DHS background study.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing data collection on residents under the direction of the licensed nurse.
• Carry out the plan of care developed by the RN, based on each resident's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Provide direct resident care and report condition and changes to the nurse.
• Know each resident as a whole person, including likes and dislikes, and bring that into the care provided (person-centered care).
• Provide or assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinent care, and mobility per the RN's plan of care, along with meal service, light housekeeping, laundry, and leading recreational activities.
• Manage time well and prioritize tasks.
• Document resident care within established policies and scope of practice.

About this role

Provide resident care and delegated nursing tasks under the supervision of the licensed nurse, including medication passing, personal care, and person-centered support. An ALA may at times be the only staff in the building and must handle emergencies independently with good judgment.

Strong organizational skills, the ability to observe and report resident status and carry out the plan of care, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stay calm in an emergency.

Preferred

• Previous assisted living or home care experience
• CNA or HHA certified
