Lakeview Middle School in Warsaw, Indiana seeks an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the extra-curricular program. The role supports the Head Coach in developing athletes, planning practices, and upholding program standards within the Warsaw Community School framework.

Successful candidates will have a HS diploma and playing experience at HS or college levels; coaching experience is preferred. This position emphasizes leadership, discipline, and positive representation of LMS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Playing experience in high school and/or college athletics preferred.
• Previous coaching experience at the high school level and/or other youth sport levels preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach the skills necessary for excellent achievement by LMS athletes as directed by the head coach.
• Plan and schedule appropriate practices with the head coach.
• Attend all practices and contests as scheduled.
• Attend all staff meetings called by the head coach.
• Assist with processing paperwork pertaining to the team and program.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior; oversee penalties for breaches by players.
• Develop the program at all levels by attending designated games.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
• Maintain compliance with WCS LMS policies/by-laws.
• Attend end-of-season awards programs.

General Summary: Assistant coaches are to be committed to the direction of the program and work toward the same goals set forth by the Head Coach. When coaches and assistants are in charge of their own team, they are to adhere to the same philosophies and rules that are expected of a Varsity Head Coach. Portraying a positive image and being a leader by example are responsibilities of all coaches in the Warsaw Community School program

Essential Functions:

• Coaches as directed by the head coach in teaching the skills necessary for excellent achievement by LMS athletes
• With the head coach, plans and schedules appropriate practices
• Attends all practices and contests as scheduled
• Attends all staff meetings called by the head coach
• Assists with the processing of all paperwork pertaining to the team and the total program
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times; assists with the establishment of and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual players
• Assists with the development of their respective program at all levels via attending games as designated by the head coach
• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the head coach
• Maintains compliance with all WCS LMS policies/by-laws
• Attends all end of season awards programs
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
