Job Description
Reports to: Head Coach
General Summary: Assistant coaches are committed to the program direction and work toward the same goals set by the Head Coach. They adhere to the same philosophies and rules expected of a Varsity Head Coach, portray a positive image, and lead by example.
Essential Functions:
- Coach as directed by the head coach in teaching skills necessary for excellent achievement by WCHS athletes.
- With the head coach, plan and schedule appropriate practices.
- Attend all practices and contests as scheduled.
- Attend all staff meetings called by the head coach.
- Assist with processing all paperwork pertaining to the team and the total program.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior; assist with establishing and overseeing penalties for breaches.
- Assist with development of their respective program at all levels by attending games as designated.
- Assist with weight programs, conditioning workouts, open facilities, camps, and scouting as designated.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the head coach.
- Maintain compliance with all WCS, WCHS, and IHSAA policies/by-laws.
- Attend all end-of-season awards programs.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Playing experience in high school and/or college athletics.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level and/or other youth sport levels.
