Ashland University is an NCAA Division II institution competing in the GMAC, offering a comprehensive 22-sport athletic program. The university is located off Interstate 71 in Ashland, Ohio, midway between Cleveland and Columbus.

Position Responsibilities

• Teach proper technique and skill development in wrestling, instructing student-athletes in small groups and one-on-one settings.
• Instruct student-athletes on mental approaches, physical health, team concepts, safety, and team building exercises.
• Assist the head coach in reviewing performances, scouting, and preparing for opponents.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA and GMAC rules, and communicate these to student-athletes.
• Explain Ashland University's mission and goals to student-athletes.
• Supervise practices, be on the bench during matches, and assist with game-day setup and facility preparation.
• Assist in travel planning and recruitment of potential student-athletes, including off-campus recruitment and on-campus visits.
• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and coordinate with campus resources for academic support.
• Report to the head wrestling coach and athletic director; may include additional duties such as event management and representing the athletic department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Previous college-level wrestling coaching experience.
• Ability to teach all areas of wrestling effectively.
• Strong recruitment skills for student-athletes.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and travel extensively for recruiting and competitions.
