Job summary

University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, seeks a Wrestling - Professional Staff to assist with planning and directing the USM Wrestling program. The role supports the Head Coach with skill development, recruitment, and retention of student-athletes in alignment with USM's mission.

The position emphasizes on-mat coaching, program promotions, and coordination of equipment while ensuring academic progress and character development in line with NAIA standards.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years related experience.
• Able to work nights and weekends with capabilities to travel.
• Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs. and sit or stand for long periods.
• Ability to demonstrate wrestling techniques and safely participate in wrestling drills and live wrestling with student-athletes.
• Must be twenty-one (21) years or older and be able to successfully complete and maintain the approved driver certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and direction the activities of the wrestling program ensuring that the team follows the direction and mission of USM and the Athletic Department.
• Assist with recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes.
• Perform sport-specific coaching duties as determined by the Head Coach.

• Work with the Athletic Department in promotions, fundraising, and recruitment efforts.
• Assist with Athletic Department game and event management.
• Perform on-mat coaching and participate in wrestling drills with student-athletes as directed by the Head Coach.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with the planning and direction the activities of the USM Wrestling program ensuring that the team follows the direction and mission of USM and the Athletic Department. Primary duties include assisting the Head Coach with assigned sport specific skills, recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with the conduct, discipline and positive character development of student-athletes by using the guidelines and principles of the USM Mission and the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
• Assist with student-athletes in personal development and academic success.
• Teach and promote the USM Mission values of community, respect, justice and excellence.
• Assist with the coordination of recruitment of quality student-athletes.
• Assist with the retention of student athletes through intense monitoring of academic performance.
• Perform sport specific coaching duties as determined by the Head Coach.
• Assists in inventory management, distribution, and collection of equipment and uniforms.
• Works with the Athletic Department in all sport promotions, fundraising, and recruitment efforts.
• Assist with USM Athletic Department game and event management.
• Perform on-mat coaching and participate in wrestling drills with student-athletes as directed by the Head Coach.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned the Head Coach.
