Job description

Responsible to assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse program; assists with conditioning, practices, coaching, recruiting, travel arrangements, ordering of equipment and gear, and supervising student managers. This position works primarily with the defense and in conjunction with the Head Coach, plans and executes a successful program that includes duties such as: conducting regular team and individual practice sessions; coaching the student athletes, evaluating athletes' performance in practice and competition; monitoring the conditioning and training of student athletes; advising and counseling student athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and academics.

Responsibilities:

  1. Arranges and conducts recruiting functions including off- and on-campus visits, evaluations, and contacts of prospective student-athletes (55%).
  2. Ensures that necessary athletic equipment and gear is available and in proper condition for scheduled practices and competitions and makes recommendations for repairs or replacement as necessary (25%). Works with the department's liaison to apparel company to order appropriate gear/uniforms as necessary.
  3. Performs administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel arrangements, budget preparation and monitoring, and maintaining statistics. Attends coaches' preparatory meetings and implements strategies resulting from these meetings (10%).
  4. Assist with game management including setup, game management, and breakdown as needed (10%).
Supplemental Functions

Full travel responsibilities for in-and-out of sport season.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree is required; Master's preferred.
  2. Prior coaching experience at the college or club sports level or as a collegiate athlete.
  3. First Aid, CPR, AED Required (or willingness to obtain). Coaching Licenses/courses recommended.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to act with honesty and sportsmanship at all times.
  2. Solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  3. Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence.
  4. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  5. Ability to successfully recruit and retain student athletes.
  6. Skilled in exemplary customer service.
  7. Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers.
  8. Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans.
  9. Strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
