Chow Hound in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks an Assistant Warehouse Manager to support daily distribution center operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory, and scheduling. This role involves supervising warehouse associates and coordinating with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure safety, accuracy, and productivity.

You will work with handheld scanners and inventory systems, identify process improvements, and drive timely, accurate order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily operations of the distribution center, including shipping, receiving, inventory, maintenance, and employee scheduling.
• Support training for new and existing warehouse staff.
• Oversee warehouse associates and assist the Warehouse Supervisor.
• Process store orders and prepare accurate pick/pack lists using inventory systems.
• Receive and verify deliveries, document discrepancies, and ensure proper stocking.
• Operate forklift/cherry picker and maintain a clean, safe warehouse.

About Your Career

As an Assistant Warehouse Manager, you will support the daily operations of our distribution center, helping ensure our retail stores receive the products they need accurately and efficiently. This role assists with warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving, inventory management, employee scheduling, training, stock rotation, and facility maintenance. The Assistant Warehouse Manager also helps oversee Warehouse Associates and the Warehouse Supervisor while promoting a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Job responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the daily operations of the distribution center, including shipping, receiving, inventory, maintenance, and employee scheduling
• Supporting and coordinating training for new and existing warehouse employees
• Overseeing warehouse associates and supporting the Warehouse Supervisor
• Processing store orders and preparing accurate pick and pack lists using inventory systems
• Receiving and verifying incoming deliveries, including checking product quantities and documenting damages or discrepancies
• Operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts and cherry pickers
• Ensuring products are properly stocked, organized, and rotated according to expiration and best-buy dates
• Monitoring inventory accuracy and troubleshooting order errors
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse, including completing assigned housekeeping and equipment maintenance duties
• Identifying opportunities to improve warehouse processes and operational efficiency
• Communicating regularly with the Warehouse Manager, warehouse team, and other departments
• Using technology such as handheld scanners, inventory systems, computers, and email
• Performing physical warehouse duties, including repeated lifting, pushing, and pulling of products weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Other duties as assigned
