There are multiple vacancies located throughout the State of Maryland. Therefore, the resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies.
The Assistant Warden oversees and directs the management of program and operational services such as security operations, correctional classification, social work, recreation, psychology, religious services, maintenance, food services and others for the incarcerated population. Work is performed in a correctional facility and employees are exposed to and incarcerated individuals who may be abusive and hostile.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.
Experience: Two years of experience as a Facility Administrator or Four years of experience as a Security Chief.
The ideal candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English. The ideal candidate must effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse populations, providing services to individuals with different beliefs, behaviors, and interpersonal styles in confinement or community settings. Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or any other language is a plus.
Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible (employment) list for at least one year.
