Job summary

The University at Buffalo seeks a richly experienced fundraising leader to serve as Assistant Vice President for Advancement, Principal and Strategic Philanthropy. This executive role leads major gifts and strategic initiatives, working across schools, faculties and central philanthropy teams to advance UB's mission.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, advancement, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Experience managing high-capacity donor portfolios and complex multi-year commitments.
• Experience building fundraising strategies within a complex organization; higher education or large nonprofit preferred.
• Ability to partner with senior leaders, faculty and volunteers to advance institutional priorities.
• Experience supervising and coordinating high-performing teams with a collaborative leadership style.
• Strong moves management, pipeline strategy, CRM systems, and data-informed decision-making.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work evenings and occasional weekends.

• Lead UB’s fundraising efforts and foster a culture of philanthropy.
• Prepare and implement plans, goals, and activities related to fund development across units.
• Partner with senior leaders, faculty, volunteers, and stakeholders to advance institutional priorities.
