Job summary

Tuskegee University is seeking an Assistant Volleyball Coach to support the Head Coach in a highly competitive Division II program, aligned with the university's mission and core values.

You will assist with practices, recruitment, student-athlete development, and travel logistics; monitor academics and eligibility; and serve as a role model for student-athletes while upholding NCAA rules. Evenings, weekends, and travel are required.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Volleyball Coach with practices, training, and competition.
• Assist in recruiting, organizing, motivating, and counseling athletes.
• Assist with letters of intent and official visits.
• Monitor attendance, study hall, grades, and travel.
• Recruit on/off campus and sign players.
• Supervise department staff and students in the program.
• Plan team travel, hotel, meals, and other logistics.

Assistant Volleyball Coach

Job Summary

The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist the Head Volleyball Coach with all facets of the program; to include organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division Il Volleyball program in support of the mission and core values of Tuskegee University

• Assist the Head Volleyball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
• Assist in the recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling volleyball athletes.
• Assist with the tasks associated with recruiting: Letters of Intent (signing) and official visits.
• Monitor the students’ class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel.
• Serve as a role model for student-athletes.
• Discipline, monitor personal appearance, conduct, image and general behavior of all student athletes.
• Recruit on/off campus and sign students for volleyball program.
• Supervise staff and students in the department, who are assigned to this program.
• Act as a consultant and schedules team travel, hotel, meals and etc.
• Evaluate athletes on physical condition and advises them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.
• Serve as an expert in students’ athletes and educate them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics.
• Assure that athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are kept and forwarded to the proper agencies and authorities.
• Provide the maintenance and accountability of equipment (i.e. uniforms, field equipment).

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)

• Three or more years of coaching experience at a high school or collegiate level.
• Must have knowledge of NCAA rules.

Physical Demands

This position may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds. This position requires standing at least four (4) hours each day; working in all weather conditions. Exposure to high noise levels. Additional physical demands include, but not limited to physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of all aspects of counseling basic skills in intercollegiate sports.

Skills:

• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with others.

Ability:

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to present information in a clear and concise manner.
