Job summary

Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois invites applications for the Assistant Volleyball Coach, a part-time stipend position within the Athletics Department. The role supports the Head Coach in day-to-day operations and requires flexibility for events and schedules.

The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree or equivalent coaching experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work nights and weekends to support practices, games, and travel logistics.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent with experience coaching and/or teaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level.
• Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting; willingness to comply with background check requirements as specified.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Availability to work nights and weekends.
• Compliance with SURS return-to-work restrictions (not a SURS annuitant or willing to suspend SURS annuity upon employment, except for SMP or lump-sum cases).

Responsibilities

• Plan and contribute to the team's technical training sessions; teach proper technique and training methods.
• Demonstrate and instruct athletes on the use of fitness center equipment and modern fitness equipment, both individually and in groups.
• Assist with game day operations: court setup, warm-up, in-game coaching, and recording/reporting statistics.
• Assist with team travel logistics and other team operations.
• Assist in planning and coordinating practice sessions.
• Participate in the recruiting process: evaluating prospective recruits, planning campus visits, and maintaining weekly contact with recruits.
• Coordinate with the head coach to monitor team members' academic status, assist with placement to four-year colleges, and ensure adherence to NJCAA rules and regulations.

Assistant Volleyball Coach

Coaching appointments are located on Parkland College's campus in Champaign, Illinois. This is a part-time, stipend appointment within the Athletics Department. Salary range: $1,000.00 – $5,000.00. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.

Overview

The Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the Head Coach in the day-to-day operations of the Women's Volleyball Team. The role requires the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt to occasional schedule changes for internal and external events.
