Job description

Assistant Vice President, Project Manager

Location: Novi, MI – WSP’s Earth & Environment Team. Join a growing organization dedicated to meeting client objectives and solving complex challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project contracts, staff, budgets and schedules
  • Lead demolition and environmental projects, site characterization, remedial designs, and preparation of reports and related documentation
  • Develop new client relationships
  • Network with existing and potential clients to position and develop new work opportunities
  • Prepare contract proposals and cost estimates
  • Oversee field work for site characterization, remediation, abatement, and heavy demolition, including subcontractor management and sampling of building materials, soil, and groundwater per state and federal regulations
  • Perform, analyze, and report on specific project tasks; research and recommend solutions to technical problems in line with accepted scientific and engineering practices
  • Collaborate with other WSP offices on large, multidisciplinary assignments
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff on demolition and environmental projects
  • Work effectively with team members and independently
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental sciences, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with increasing levels of project complexity and management responsibility across commercial, industrial, and federal sectors
  • Track record of performance in a seller‑doer culture (business development/client management)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations and processes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to technical excellence
  • Well‑organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deliver on time and on budget
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience for field contract services and hands‑on training of junior personnel
  • Proficient in MS Project
  • Some daytime and overnight travel expected (20‑30% of the time)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or other graduate certifications in engineering, geology, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
  • PE, PG, or other applicable registration preferred
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6
  • Ability to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight‑fitting respirator (Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam)
