Western Alliance Bank, a subsidiary of Western Alliance Bancorporation, seeks an Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Manager- Special Assets to analyze, structure, underwrite, and close complex loans in line with lending policies. The role partners with the Commercial Banker to monitor credit risks and achieve regional goals.

The candidate will coordinate loan processing, ensure policy compliance, and support in underwriting and closing desirable credits while maintaining superior client service

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Portfolio Management or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of banking operations and commercial banking products.
• Knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance obligations and practices.
• Credit analysis and loan structuring knowledge; training completed.

Responsibilities

• Interface with clients in-person, by phone, and email to assess credit needs and structure.
• Gather and analyze information to present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee for approval.
• Coordinate processing of approved loans per agreement and policy; obtain information from customers.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and follow-through with customers and staff.

Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Manager- Special Assets

What you'll do:

As Assistant Vice President- Portfolio Manager- Special Assets you'll be responsible for analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of major and complex loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. The Portfolio Manager will work with the Vice President, Commercial Banker to manage loans to ensure the credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified. You'll assist in attaining established Bank, region, and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing desirable credits with the Vice President, Commercial Banker. As a Portfolio Manager II - Commercial you'll be responsible for assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

• Along with the Vice President, Commercial Banker interface with clients in-person, over the phone and email in order to assess their credit needs and determine the best structure and items needed for analysis.
• Gather and analyze necessary information to present along with the Relationship Manager, a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval.
• Coordinate processing of approved loans; ensure loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtain sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; assist in solving problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within the Relationship Managers portfolio.
• Reinforce superior customer service through your own example along with appropriate follow-through with involved customers and employees.
• Handle various other underwriting, portfolio management and upkeep tasks and responsibilities related to new loan requests and/or the existing Relationship Managers portfolio.

What you'll need:

• 4+ years of related experience in Portfolio Management or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
• Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
• Intermediate knowledge of commercial credit and loan structuring, and pricing dynamics. Credit analyst training completed.
• Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
