The Assistant Vice Chancellor, Enterprise Data Architecture and Reporting serves as a key strategic leader responsible for ensuring that Dallas College's data is accurate, secure, governed, and accessible for informed decision-making. This role helps build and maintain the enterprise-wide data infrastructure that enables leaders, faculty, and staff to make data-driven decisions that support student success, operational excellence, and institutional accountability. The position also ensures the integrity of critical state, federal, and accreditation reporting that directly impacts the College's compliance and reputation.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor, Enterprise Data Architecture and Reporting is an enterprise leadership role responsible for ensuring Dallas College data are reliable, secure, well governed, and ready for institutional decision-making and accountability. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, Strategic Research, Analytics & Effectiveness, the Assistant Vice Chancellor provides strategic and operational leadership for data warehousing, data governance, and official reporting functions. This position establishes the architecture, standards, controls, and service models that move data from source systems into trusted institutional data products; ensures timely and accurate state, federal, accreditation, and other official submissions; and advances shared definitions, stewardship, and data quality across the College. The Assistant Vice Chancellor leads technical and reporting professionals, partners closely with Information Technology and functional leaders, and remains sufficiently hands‑on to guide data modeling, code review, troubleshooting, and modernization. The ideal candidate combines deep higher education reporting experience, strong technical and coding expertise, responsible use of AI and automation, and demonstrated success leading people and organizational change.
Master’s degree in information systems, computer science, data engineering, data science, analytics, institutional research, higher education administration, or a related field. Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in data warehousing, data engineering, data governance, institutional research, analytics, or official reporting, including substantial experience in a higher education environment. Five (5) years of experience leading and developing teams, including managers and/or multidisciplinary technical and reporting professionals. Direct experience producing or overseeing state and federal higher education reports, with responsibility for validation, reconciliation, certification, corrections, and audit support; Texas higher education reporting experience preferred. Proficiency in SQL and demonstrated proficiency in Python or another relevant programming language, with experience using modern data platforms and ETL/ELT technologies. Demonstrated experience implementing data governance, metadata, lineage, stewardship, and enterprise data-quality practices. Demonstrated experience using AI and automation responsibly to improve data engineering, reporting, documentation, validation, or operational processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence decisions across diverse technical, operational, and executive groups.
Doctorate degree in a related field preferred. Official transcripts required.
Comprehensive knowledge of higher education data, business processes, accountability, and official reporting requirements, with an understanding of the mission and operating environment of community colleges. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal higher education reporting, including submission requirements, data definitions, edit checks, certifications, corrections, reconciliations, and audit documentation. Expertise in enterprise data warehouse and architecture, dimensional and relational data modeling, data integration, metadata, lineage, and the delivery of trusted data products. Advanced hands‑on coding skills, particularly SQL, and proficiency with Python or another relevant programming language; ability to review code, troubleshoot complex data issues, and establish technical standards. Experience with modern cloud data platforms and engineering practices, including ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, orchestration, automated testing, source control, deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization. Strong knowledge of data governance practices, including data ownership and stewardship, institutional definitions, master and reference data, metadata management, access controls, issue management, and policy development. Ability to apply artificial intelligence and automation responsibly while maintaining human review, security, privacy, and accountability. Strong strategic planning, portfolio management, change leadership, vendor management, project execution, and cross‑functional communication skills.
