Job summary

Grandview Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio seeks an Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach for the 2026-2027 school year to lead the boys' high school wrestling program with about 15-20 student-athletes. The role reports to the Athletic Director and requires coaching experience, a pupil activity permit, CPR certification, and preferred van certification.

Responsibilities include supervising practices, assisting the Head Coach, and ensuring athlete safety.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching the designated sport.

• Prior coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct the boys' high school wrestling team (approx. 15-20 student-athletes).
• Assist the Head Wrestling Coach with coaching, communication, and admin duties.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure safety of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.
• Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests (15-20 hours/week).
• Supervise and travel with the team to all contests.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Grandview Heights Schools is seeing a dedicated Assistant VarsityWrestling Coach for the 2026-2027 school year!

Title: Assistant VarsityWrestling Coach

Position Type: Supplemental

Reports to: Athletic Director

Qualifications:

• Experience in the designated sport
• Must meet all coaching requirements as specified by the Board of Education and OHSAA, including acquiring a pupil activity permit and CPR certification
• Prior coaching experience preferred
• Van certification preferred

Essential Job Functions:

• Supervise and instruct the boys' high schoolwrestling team consisting of approximately 15-20 student-athletes.
• Assist the HeadWrestling Coach with coaching, communication, and administrative duties as assigned.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure the safety of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.
• Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests. 15-20 hours per week is a typical time commitment for the coach.
• Supervise and travel with the team to all contests.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions

• Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather
• Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see and read
• Regular requirement to lift equipment, up to 50 pounds
