Job summary

Westtown School in West Chester, PA seeks an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for the upcoming season. This part-time role offers an afternoon schedule with a stipend. You will coach players, plan practices, and develop game strategies while upholding the school’s values and promoting sportsmanship.

Responsibilities include teaching fundamentals, leading engaging practices, maintaining equipment, and communicating with players and parents. CPR/first aid and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience required.
• Experience playing high school or college baseball preferred.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• A positive student-centered approach to coaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, trainers, and other community members.
• Ability to effectively manage and support athletes at the appropriate level.
• Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge of the sport.
• CPR and first aid certified.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Observe and promote the rules of Westtown School, the FSL, and PAISAA.
• Remain current with sport theories and techniques.
• Attend all coaches' meetings.
• Evaluate players and assist with selecting the team.
• Create a safe, structured, and motivating environment.
• Assist with planning and implementing engaging daily practices.
• Be responsible for team equipment and uniforms.
• Assist with team discipline.
• Coordinate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents.
• Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, and meals.
• Report and follow up with the athletic trainer regarding injuries.
• Assist with the writing of individual comments for each student-athlete.
• Collaborate with the head coach and student manager.
• Keep the scorebook current and available.
• Report areas of concern immediately to the Athletic Directors: fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.

Assistant Coach for Varsity Baseball

Westtown seeks an experienced Assistant Coach for Varsity Baseball. The spring coaching season runs from February 16 through May 7, 2027. This is a part-time, afternoon position compensated with a stipend.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Westtown coaches foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture that supports student-athletes' development both on and off the field of play. Westtown coaches are responsible for teaching sport-specific fundamentals and advanced skills, planning and leading organized and engaging practices, and implementing effective game strategies that promote individual growth and team success.

Successful coaches serve as teachers and role models, inspiring student-athletes to pursue a high level of success while emphasizing sportsmanship, self-discipline, resilience, self-confidence, and a healthy perspective on competition and teamwork. Through their leadership, coaches cultivate pride in personal and team accomplishments and help students develop habits and values that extend beyond athletics.
