Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Bay & Lakes Region is seeking an Assistant Unit Manager to support the Unit Manager, supervise a part-time staff, and foster a safe, engaging Club experience for youth.

You will guide staff through challenging behaviors, coordinate with the Emotional Wellness Team, manage operations, scheduling, and events, and model our mission and values to help youth grow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years or more of experience in youth programming and youth guidance
  • Demonstrated ability in staff supervision and facilities management

Responsibilities

  • Leading People: Supervise and support a dynamic team of part‑time staff, cultivating a culture of teamwork, growth, and accountability.
  • Providing guidance and support to staff as they navigate challenging behaviors and help ensure consistent implementation of Club expectations.
  • Supporting Youth: Be the go‑to leader for addressing youth behavior needs with empathy and professionalism. Collaborate with our Emotional Wellness Team to guide members toward success. Partner with staff and families to identify strategies that promote positive behavior, engagement, and youth success.
  • Managing Resources: Assist with facility operations, staffing schedules, food service coordination, and safe transportation logistics.
  • Making Magic Happen: Help plan and execute Club events—from fun Fridays to community-wide celebrations—while modeling our mission and values every step of the way.

What You’ll Do:

As the right hand to the Unit Manager, you’ll play a vital role in:

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:


  • Enjoys building meaningful relationships with young people.

  • Remains calm, patient, and consistent when responding to challenging behavior.

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with youth, families, and coworkers.

  • Can work collaboratively while also making sound decisions independently.

  • Demonstrates empathy, cultural awareness, and a commitment to creating an inclusive environment.

  • Is comfortable providing guidance and constructive coaching to other staff.

  • Has experience working with youth, behavior management, youth development, education, social services, or a related field.



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 2 years or more of experience in youth programming and youth guidance




  • Demonstrated ability in staff supervision and facilities management

  • Bilingual (a plus!).




  • Budget, facility, and operations management knowledge.

Schedule:

Full-time/M-TH; School Year 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm/Fridays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm; Summer 7:15 am to 3:30 pm/9:30 am to 5:30 pm rotating



Pay:

Ranges from $36,000-44,000, based on the degree of experience you bring to the position.
