Job summary

PartnerRe is seeking a Managed Care Assistant Underwriter to prioritize and complete RFPs, and to analyze and pre-underwrite new and renewal business for our Managed Care product. The role aims to produce a profitable book of business through brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries.

You will review underwriting information, develop rates, interact with brokers, prepare proposals and reports, and maintain data systems in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, esp. Excel and Word.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and operate with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Ability to think strategically, assess risk and make data-driven decisions.
• Health reinsurance underwriting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review underwriting information and develop rates and terms for Managed Care accounts.
• Interact with brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries as needed.
• Prepare and generate correspondence, proposals and statistical reports.
• Provide management reports and maintain key data systems.
• Manage accounts and producer relationships to maximize profitability and meet service standards.
• Coordinate with AVP Managed Care, Underwriters, PULSE and Claims Examiners to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Review, finalize and issue Reinsurance Agreements, Policies and Amendments.
• Maintain underwriting manuals and update as needed.

Compensation

Salary Range: $60,000-75,000

Bonus: 10% Target

Job Description

We are seeking a Managed Care Assistant Underwriter who will be responsible for prioritizing and completing requests for proposals, analyzing and pre‑underwriting new and renewal business for our Managed Care product. The position is responsible for producing a profitable book of business working through select brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries.

• Review underwriting information, develop rates and terms for Managed Care accounts based upon underwriting rules, guidelines, pricing methodologies and account specific date
• Interact with brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries as necessary
• Compose, prepare and generate correspondence, proposals and statistical reports as required
• Provide management reports and maintain key data systems as required
• Responsible for all aspects of account management and producer relationships to maximize profitability and meet service standards
• Works closely with AVP Managed Care, Underwriters, PULSE and Claim Examiners, to meet required deadlines, business objectives, and client service standards
• Review, finalize and issue Reinsurance Agreements, Policies and Amendments
• Assists with maintaining and updating underwriting manuals as needed

About You

• Proficiency with Microsoft office with focus on Excel and Word and knowledge of PowerPoint
• Ability to manage competing priorities and to operate without close supervision during high volume, high demand cycles of the business
• Superior oral and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills
• Ability to think strategically, effectively assess risk and make solid data‑driven decisions
• Previous health reinsurance underwriting experience is a plus
• Experience working in matrix organizations an asset
• Working on virtual teams preferred
• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required
