Job summary

The City of Boca Raton, FL is seeking an experienced Assistant Traffic Engineer to support transportation planning, traffic operations, and multimodal mobility initiatives.

Responsibilities include traffic studies, development reviews, Vision Zero efforts, managing consultants, and collaborating with FDOT and local agencies; a PE license and 5+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Traffic, or Transportation Engineering.
• 5+ years of traffic/transportation engineering experience.
• 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain FL PE within 1 year.
• Experience with traffic modeling software such as Synchro, HCS, SIDRA.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies, transportation analyses, and mobility planning.
• Review development projects and traffic impact analyses.
• Support Vision Zero and complete streets initiatives.
• Manage consultants and transportation projects.
• Respond to resident traffic concerns and safety requests.
• Assist with Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
• Collaborate with FDOT, Palm Beach County, and local stakeholders.
• Supervise staff or consultants and support division operations.
