What You'll Be Doing

The Assistant Risk Trader works closely with the Risk Trader and Head Trader by supporting and promoting trading services.

What We're Looking For

• Responsible for aiding the Head Traders and Risk Traders in their work to provide trading services. Will not be allowed to risk capital for the firm or to determine which securities can be offered for sale.
• Training to become a Risk Trader at some point in their career. This is a stepping stone for a role that will require more in-depth knowledge of the product area they are working in.
• Help with answering phones, setting up offering sheets, updating inventory pages, sending out information requested by financial advisors, and assisting Head Traders or Risk Traders with other tasks.
• Will abide by all Policies and Procedures of Stifel and should be fully aware of and compliant with all FINRA, TRACE, MSRB, SEC, and relevant laws related to securities industry and products.
• Need to be aware of and report suspicious trading activity that may violate rules, policies, or procedures directly to their Head Trader. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of every trade they assist with and making corrections as necessary.
• May be asked to assist in preparing marketing materials, which must be reviewed by the Head Trader and Senior Managing Director before distribution.

What You'll Bring

• Must have a solid understanding of capital markets and the products they are learning to trade. Ability to communicate effectively with professionals, work in a hectic environment, and be proficient with numbers and computers.

Education & Experience

• Preferably a 4-year degree in Finance, Economics, or Business-related field.
• At least 4 years of industry experience preferred, such as back-office or operations roles.

Licenses & Credentials

• Minimum Required: Series 7, 63, 55 (if equity trader) within months of hire.

Systems & Technology

• Minimum Required: Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Familiarity with systems like TradeWeb/BondDesk, MarketAxes, IPREO, TREPP, FIDESSA, or similar trading platforms required by the product area.
