Job summary

Assistant Track Coach - Jumps

Alignment with Theological Positions: The person who fills this position must personally agree with Biola’s Articles of Faith and Statement of Biblical Principles and support the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Eschatology Teaching Position. As such, this person may not speak against or act in a manner inconsistent with these positions during the course of their employment at Biola.

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.

Experience Required: 3–4 years successful coaching at the high school or collegiate level and/or experience competing at the collegiate level; experience coaching the horizontal jumps and high jump.

Experience Preferred: 1–2 years coaching jumps at the collegiate level.

Salary: Hourly ~ $17.00 per hour (approximately $30,000 for the entire assignment + ACA Health Insurance Benefits).

Summary of Position: Under general supervision, assists in coaching, administrative, recruiting, fundraising, and meet‑management duties for Biola University Cross Country and Track and Field Teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and agree to abide by the mission of Biola University and the Biola Athletics Department.
  • Oversee all organizing, preparing, and conducting of individual and team jumps practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of the Director and Biola Athletics.
  • Possess the ability to administer workouts and oversee workout groups during practice sessions.
  • Assist in coaching at competitions throughout the season as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Oversee all shoe, apparel, and uniform inventory throughout the year, including assisting with ordering, design, and distribution.
  • Electronically check student‑athlete study‑hall hours once a week to ensure they are completed.
  • Assist in connecting with prospective student‑athletes by phone, e‑mail, or through on‑campus visits when they request to speak with the jumps coach.
  • Help in spiritual growth of student‑athletes; ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student‑athletes.
  • Have a valid California Class C license and be physically able to drive cars and vans as needed and assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Adhere to all institutional, PacWest, and NCAA Division II by‑laws and regulations.
  • Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.

  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs and routines.
  • Skills in the use of first aid and CPR procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
