Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in terminal operations.

• Ability to manage a large diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving to respond quickly to issues.
• Ability to work varied hours and shifts.
• Experience with rigging and load/stress calculations.
• Experience with computerized operating systems.
• Knowledge of safety and health regulations.
• Knowledge of local union dispatching rules.
• Observe safety requirements for container terminal.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Terminal Manager with quote rates for potential business.
• Communicate with the Port Authority daily.
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment, including PPE distribution.
• Ensure a drug- and alcohol-free work environment.
• Maintain a hostile- and discrimination-free work environment.
• Manage availability of equipment and personnel for timely vessel operations.
• Oversee ramp supervisors and union personnel; counsel or terminate as needed per labor agreement.
• Plan, design, and implement rigging arrangements.
• Complete shift production, payroll, and safety reports; deliver to stakeholders.
• Investigate damages and liabilities and report to management.
• Learn, navigate, and adhere to all union contracts.
• Coordinate between customers, agents, and labor; perform other duties.
