The Assistant Tennis Coach supports high school student-athletes by fostering skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, with emphasis on safety and positive behavior. Required certifications include CPR/First Aid, concussion coursework, and NFHS coaching courses.

Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Concussion course (St. Luke’s) required upon employment and renewed in fall of even-numbered years.
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course required upon employment and renewed in fall of even-numbered years.
• NFHS Coaching Mental Wellness Course required upon employment and renewed in fall of even-numbered years.
• Valid teaching certificate or completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course required.
• NFHS Teaching and Modeling Behavior Course required for non-certified teachers.

Responsibilities

• Attend and assist with all practices, meets, and team activities.
• Organize and conduct practice sessions emphasizing skill development and safety.
• Support instruction of basic tennis skills for varying abilities.
• Supervise students at competitions ensuring sportsmanship and conduct.
• Communicate with coaches, students, families, and administration.
• Monitor participation and coordinate transportation with the Athletic Director.

Payette School District is accepting applications for the following coaching position for the 2025–2026 school year:

Assistant Tennis Coach – Payette High School

The Payette High School administration and Athletic Director will select the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach.

Position Purpose

The Assistant Tennis Coach supports the development of high school student-athletes by fostering skill development, positive attitudes, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Emphasis is placed on age-appropriate instruction, participation, and the development of habits of physical activity, responsibility, and respect.

Goals

• Support the physical, social, and emotional development of high school student-athletes
• Teach fundamental tennis skills appropriate for varying ability levels
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for self and others
• Provide positive role modeling and encouragement
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive athletic environment

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Working with Student-Athletes

• Attend and assist with all practices, meets, team meetings, and required school-related activities, including supervision during events and field trips
• Assist in organizing and conducting practice sessions that emphasize skill development, participation, and safety
• Support instruction of basic tennis skills for students of varying abilities
• Help supervise students at competitions and ensure appropriate conduct and sportsmanship
• Assist with communication between coaches, students, families, and administration
• Monitor student participation and effort throughout the season
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding transportation needs for meets and events
• Ensure student safety at all times and proper use, care, and storage of equipment
• Support fundraising activities as needed and follow district bookkeeping and purchasing procedures
• Comply with federal and state law, administrative rules, Board policy, and district procedures related to student-athlete safety, including concussion protocols
• Ensure students meet eligibility requirements, including academic standing and physical clearance
• Encourage student participation and help create a positive team culture that emphasizes growth and inclusion
• Model professionalism, positive behavior, and effective conflict management
• Maintain clear expectations for conduct, respect, and fair play
• Follow district athletic guidelines and high school activity standards

Terms of Employment

Employment is approved by the Board of Trustees and in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.

Evaluation

Performance of this position will be evaluated periodically by the building principal in conformance with district policy and IDAPA 08.02.02.120.
