Catalyst Brands in New York is seeking an Assistant Technical Designer to support evaluation of apparel merchandise for fit, quality, and design interpretation. You will work with Design and Pre-Production teams to finalize product packages in Flex PLM and communicate with international offices and factories.
The role requires a college degree and 1+ years in technical design or related field, with strong communication and organizational skills.
Assistant Technical Designer develops basic technical expertise to assist in evaluate apparel merchandise in terms of style, measurement and construction to achieve the appropriate fit, quality and design interpretation for the manufacturer to follow.
Collaborate with Design and Pre-Production teams with guidance from Sr. Technical Designer or Technical Design Lead to determine fit and aesthetics.
Complete product packages in Flex PLM software, including measurements, construction details and technical sketches.
Establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality.
Review with the Sr. Technical Designer or Technical Design Lead fit history when presenting current fit and recommend alternative methods of construction or options for components when necessary.
Prepare and actively participate in fit sessions.
Resolve and communicate fit and construction issues to International Buying Offices and factories within the development and production timelines.
Daily communication and follow through with IBO, vendors, and all cross-functional partners.
College degree in related field required.
1 + years of Technical Design or similar experience is a plus.
Some knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing process.
An eye for proportion, balance and aesthetic details.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Develops confidence and assertiveness in fit presentation.
Ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with an acute attention to detail.
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Proactive on problem solving and seeks input for optimum resolutions as needed.
Proficiency in software: Flex PLM, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
