Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant Team Leader maintains a clean, organized store while supporting the Store Team Leader in fostering a customer-first culture through high store standards and team engagement. They assist with supervising staff, managing merchandise, completing paperwork, and other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while safeguarding assets.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers, operate registers.
  • Support a customer-first store culture.
  • Model product knowledge and maintain a safe, clean store environment.
  • Assist with merchandising and displays to attract customers and drive sales.
  • Educate staff about products to enhance shopping experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization standards daily and weekly.
  • Assist with opening and closing the store at least two days a week.
  • Help schedule, train, and ensure compliance among staff.
  • Manage merchandise receiving, stocking, and rotation per guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages and markdowns.
  • Implement and maintain plan-o-zones for merchandise presentation.
  • Ensure financial integrity, manage cash, deposits, and security procedures.
  • Assist customers at self-checkout and support store management in absence.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to interpret documents, perform basic math, and operate cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety controls.
  • Ability to operate registers and store tools, develop organizational skills, and solve problems.
  • Effective communication with staff, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong inventory and merchandising skills. Ability to drive to bank deposits.

Work Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in retail preferred; supervisory experience is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 55 pounds.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions and noise.
  • Use of cleaning and stocking equipment.
  • Occasional outdoor weather exposure and driving for bank deposits.
