Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Assistant Team Leader helps maintain a clean, well-organized store while assisting the Store Team Leader in creating a customer-first store culture through exceptional store standards and team engagement. Under the direction of the Store Team Leader, the Assistant Team Leader assists with supervising store employees, managing merchandise presentation, completing paperwork, and preparing deposits. The role also involves stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets and reducing losses.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide superior customer service, greet and assist customers, operate cash register and scanner to process purchases.
  • Support the Store Team Leader in fostering a customer-first store culture.
  • Model product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized store environment.
  • Merchandise the store appealingly to attract and retain customers.
  • Rotate products and create eye-catching displays to drive sales.
  • Educate store team members about products to improve customer engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization standards daily and weekly.
  • Assist in opening and closing the store at least two days per week.
  • Help schedule employees, provide training, conduct safety meetings, and ensure policy compliance.
  • Manage merchandise receiving, unpacking, stocking, and display according to guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
  • Implement and maintain plan-o-zones for merchandise presentation.
  • Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and cash handling procedures.
  • Assist customers at self-checkout stations.
  • Support store management during the Store Team Leader's absence.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
  • Mathematical skills including calculations and percentages.
  • Cash handling and deposit procedures knowledge.
  • Ability to operate cash registers and reporting tools.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
  • Effective communication with staff, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong inventory and merchandising knowledge.
  • Ability to drive to the bank for deposits.

Work Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred.
  • Supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Handling merchandise and equipment regularly.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds frequently; up to 55 pounds occasionally.
  • Climbing ladders occasionally.
  • Fast-paced environment with moderate noise.
  • Exposure to scents, weather, wet surfaces, and cleaning solutions.
  • Occasional driving for bank deposits and store support.
