Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant Team Leader helps maintain a clean, well-organized store while assisting the Store Team Leader in creating a customer-first store culture through exceptional store standards and team engagement. Under the direction of the Store Team Leader, the Assistant Team Leader assists with supervision of store employees, management and presentation of merchandise, completion of paperwork, and preparation of deposits. The role also includes stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets and reducing losses.

• Provides superior customer service to exceed expectations; greet and assist customers, operate cash register and scanner.
• Assists in creating and supporting a customer-first store culture.
• Models product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience. Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized store environment.
• Facilitates appealing merchandising to drive sales and maintains product displays.
• Helps educate store team about products for a differentiated shopping experience.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization standards daily and weekly.
• Opens and closes the store at least two days per week.
• Assists with employee scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manages merchandise receiving, stocking, restocking, and display setup.
• Maintains accurate inventory, controls damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Supports implementation of plan-o-zones and presentation standards.
• Ensures financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and cash handling procedures.
• Assists customers at self-checkout and in managing store operations in the absence of the Store Team Leader.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to interpret documents, diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Mathematical skills including basic calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling, security, and store operations.
• Ability to operate cash registers and reporting tools.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication with team members, suppliers, and customers.
• Product knowledge and merchandising creativity.
• Ability to drive to the bank for deposits.

Work Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in retail or supervisory roles preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40-55 pounds.
• Exposure to various environmental conditions and cleaning products.
• Occasional outdoor weather exposure and driving for bank deposits or store support.
