Job summary

ECS Limited in Richmond, VA is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Team Leader to mentor technicians and organize field activities within the Field Services department. You will oversee training, safety, and efficient execution on construction sites.

The role involves observing, sampling, and testing soils and aggregates, coordinating with project managers and general contractors, and supporting business development as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Must have and be willing to maintain basic certifications.
  • Advanced certifications may be required based on the work performed.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Good understanding of construction materials testing principles, applications, and ASTM testing standards.
  • Proficient at data interpretation and evaluation of CMT techniques and results.

Responsibilities

  • Field Activities: Observe, test, sample, and inspect materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, structural steel).
  • Safety: maintain supplies, calibrate equipment, promote safety, ensure PPE usage, assist training.
  • Communication: liaise with technicians, project managers, and general contractors; support scheduling and staff recruitment; mentor junior staff; assist with project meetings; may participate in marketing and client development.

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented and certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Team Leader to join our Richmond team. In this role, you will successfully ensure that our technicians are properly trained and organized through mentorship within the Field Services department.

Responsibilities
  • Field Activities: Perform observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement on construction sites.
  • Safety: Inventory maintenance and organization of supplies; Calibration and maintenance of field equipment to include keeping accurate records; Promote safety and safety culture; Ensure proper PPE is used on project sites; Assist with company required safety training.
  • Communication: Daily communication with technicians, project managers, and general contractors; Collaborate with Team Leaders to support scheduling operations and recruiting to maintain appropriate staff among your team; Assist with management of field staff; Actively mentor and train junior field staff as they grow in their careers; Provide support to project managers and department manager as needed; Attend project meetings as requested; May participate in business development, marketing, and client development.

The expected pay range for this role and location is $24-$28/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
