Job description

The Occupational Therapy Department at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor / OT Academic Fieldwork Coordinator MS Program.

This position requires previous successful experience supervising students in clinical level I & II fieldwork. The individual in this role provides oversight and responsibilities for managing all MS student fieldwork, collaborates on curricular assessment of FW performance, updates the FW Manual, ensures compliance with accreditation standards, stays informed of professional changes affecting FW, and seeks mentoring/collaboration as needed.

Job Duties
Accreditation
  • Maintain record as the AFWC for ACOTE for the MS program, stay updated on FW expectations and professional focus.
  • Organize and maintain documentation for self-study, program evaluation, and reaccreditation, with support from the OTD AFWC.
  • Update Fieldwork manuals in collaboration with relevant faculty and ensure policies comply with accreditation standards.
  • Oversee documentation requirements, including contracts, for student fieldwork experiences.
Curricular and Program
  • Collaborate with the OTD AFWC and Fieldwork Support Specialist to ensure adequate placements and consistency across programs.
  • Assist in implementing Level I and II coursework, developing syllabi, student assignments, and evaluating performance.
  • Support students with ADA-related needs during transition from classroom to clinic.
  • Provide intervention strategies for students at risk of failing, and document learning plans.
  • Engage in assessment of student FW performance for reviews and accreditation reports.
  • Offer feedback on annual performance reviews for the Fieldwork Support Specialist.
Level I Fieldwork

Includes community-based placements and simulation experiences to introduce students to fieldwork and develop practice understanding.

  • Plan and organize community-based Level I experiences.
  • Communicate expectations to students regarding objectives, requirements, and assessments.
  • Establish contractual arrangements with clinical sites.
  • Maintain documentation of the Level I process, including communication and assessments.
  • Provide feedback on Level I performance to prepare for Level II.
Level II Fieldwork

Entails 24 weeks of full-time clinical experience.

  • Plan and evaluate Level II placements.
  • Develop community-based relationships and oversee supervision.
  • Manage contractual arrangements and address conflicts or needs.
  • Assess student performance regularly and communicate progress.
  • Support remediation plans for students struggling in Level II.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in OT from a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
  • Current Pennsylvania OT license or license eligibility, with a strong clinical background and supervision experience.
  • PA driver’s license or eligibility for travel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in OT or related field (preferred).
  • At least 3 years supervising students in clinical settings.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in PA.
