ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR of Electrical & Computer Engineering / UMKC School of Science & Engineering / Division of Energy, Matter & Systems

Job Description

To support the remarkable developments and future growth opportunities, UMKC has launched a cluster hiring initiative within the Division of Energy, Matter and Systems (EMS). The EMS Division includes the Faculties of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Chemistry (CHEM), and Physics & Astronomy (P&A). As part of this cluster hiring, the EMS Division is seeking applications for one (1) ranked non-tenure-track (NTT) position in ECE at the Assistant Teaching Professor level, starting in Fall 2025.

Areas of interest for the ECE Ranked NTT Position: The University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks candidates to teach courses in the broad area of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Candidates with backgrounds and expertise in microelectronics, power electronics, digital and analog circuit design, computer engineering, hardware description language (VHDL and Verilog), engineering computation and programming, and all fundamental areas of ECE are encouraged to apply. Candidates with backgrounds and aspirations in the basic and applied project-based teaching of ECE courses will be given preference.

Qualifications

The candidates must have a Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline.

The successful candidates are expected to:

  1. Develop and teach fundamental and specialized courses in ECE;
  2. Have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and transfer students;
  3. Engage in departmental, school, or university services appropriate to the position;
  4. Advance the goals and strategic plan of UMKC.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 9-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for ranked promotion. Position begins with the Fall 2025 semester.
