Position Title: Assistant Teaching Professor and Clinical Coordinator, Cardiovascular Perfusion Program

About the Role

Northern Kentucky University’s (NKU) School of Allied Health,within the College of Health & Human Services, is seeking afulltime Clinical Coordinator and faculty member to teach in theMaster of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion program.

NKU, a growing metropolitan university located 7 miles fromCincinnati, is a university known to its faculty and students forits commitment to student success. The clinical coordinator willhave teaching responsibilities and will oversee clinical aspects ofthe program in collaboration with the program director, includingthe development of relationships with clinical partners to provideexcellence in cardiovascular perfusion educationopportunities.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a perfusionist with astrong science and research background with teaching experiencewith the ability to teach across the perfusion curriculum, toinclude anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology,research methods and oversee research capstone projects.

This position will also require aspects of service and commitmentnot only to the program, but also to the College of Health &Human Services and the university by serving on various committeeswhen needed.

This is a 12-month non-tenure track renewable faculty position atthe rank of assistant teaching professor.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach face-to-face courses in the program, as assigned; alimited number of courses may be online, but face-to-face teachingis required
• Engage in student recruitment, selection, guidance,instruction, and evaluation.
• Support the program director in accomplishing outcomes relatedto planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program.
• Assist the program director in course development.
• Participate in the community advisory committee for the programand various other service activities across multiple levels(program, school, college, and university.
• Help guide the program to ensure alignment with theUniversity’s strategic priorities of retention, graduation andoverall student success.
• Communicate with current clinical sites and preceptors toassist in coordinating clinical contracts.
• Participate in various committee and service activities acrossmultiple levels, including program, school, college anduniversity.

• Recruit and maintain clinical sites, coordinate clinicalcontracts and obtain qualified preceptors at each clinicalfacility. Establish and maintain working relationships with staffwithin the clinical sites.

Minimum Education & Qualifications

• Master’s degree (doctorate preferred) from an accreditedinstitution recognized by the US Secretary of Education at the timethe degree was conferred, in perfusion, and an education in relatedsciences such as biology, anatomy and physiology, biochemistry,pharmacology, exercise physiology, kinesiology.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as aperfusionist
• Minimum of 3 years pedagogical teaching experience (orinstructional methodology) relevant to science courses within anacademic setting.
• Highly developed interpersonal communication and organizationalskills.
• Ability to create and maintain collegial relationships withinternal and external team members.
• Commitment to the mission of NKU, College of Health and HumanServices, and Program.
