The African American Studies Department at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position starting in Fall 2025. This is a one-year, non-tenure-line, term appointment with a strong likelihood of renewal.
Candidates must have an excellent teaching record and successful teaching experience. The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate courses on the African American Experience in history, culture, politics, religion, and thought. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching courses focused on women and gender.
The teaching load is three courses per semester (fall and spring). Onsite teaching is required.
A Ph.D. in an African American studies-related field (e.g., Political Science, English, History, Philosophy, Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies, or other humanities and social sciences) is required before the hire date.
