Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. (CIFC) is seeking to hire full-time Preschool Assistant Teachers for its Norwalk Early Learning Programs.

Responsibilities

This position serves as a teacher assistant in a classroom of 14 to 20 Head Start / Preschool (3-5 year old) children. The main duties include assisting in planning and implementing classroom activities for preschool children, with core functions including:

  • Program Implementation (60%)
  • Family Partnership Building (10%)
  • Communication and Service Coordination (10%)
  • Record Keeping and Recording (10%)
  • Planning (5%)
  • Ongoing Monitoring and Self-Assessment (5%)

Hours

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate and/or 12 Early Childhood Education Credits.
  • AA or BA degree preferred.
  • Head Start or Preschool experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Driver’s license preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification if required.
Health Requirements
  • Recent documentation of being free of communicable diseases (e.g., TB, COVID).
  • Recent fit-for-duty examination.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
