Brightside Academy in McKeesport, PA is seeking a caring Assistant Teacher to support a safe, engaging classroom where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Opening, closing, and full-time shifts are available, and you’ll join a network of early learning centers across Pennsylvania.

This role emphasizes teamwork, organization, and nurturing interactions as you assist the lead teacher, supervise routines, and help implement age-appropriate activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience with children or approved CDA/PD hours/9 ECE credits.
• Willingness to work opening, closing, or full-time shifts.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; classroom-management ability.
• Nurturing, dependable, energetic approach to working with children.
• Ability to read/write English and use basic Microsoft Office tools.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Child Development or progress toward an ECE degree.

Responsibilities

• Support a high-quality, age-appropriate classroom experience.
• Help implement engaging lesson plans and activities.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized classroom.
• Supervise children and support daily routines, transitions, and classroom ratios.
• Support each child’s developmental needs and adjust activities as needed.
• Work closely with the Lead Teacher, families, and center leadership.
• Follow health, safety, licensing, and classroom-ratio requirements.
• Step into Lead Teacher responsibilities when needed.
• Complete annual professional-development requirements (24 hours or 8 college credits yearly).
