Job summary

The Goddard School located at 161 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ 07041 is seeking a motivated and caring Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment.

You will help implement lessons and support children’s development across social, emotional, cognitive and physical areas while communicating with families about progress within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience in licensed childcare or preschool setting.
• Empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children's development across social, emotional, cognitive and physical domains.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Adopt health, safety guidelines and licensing requirements.
• Support daily care routines to nurture a positive learning space.
