Job summary

The Goddard School in Millburn, NJ is seeking an Assistant Teacher to partner with the Lead Teacher in creating engaging activities and ensuring a safe, stimulating classroom. Bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity to a supportive team focused on student growth.

You will help implement age-appropriate lessons, support social, emotional and physical development, and assist with daily care routines while communicating with families about progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
• Empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to work without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must pass state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging
• Communicate with families about their child's progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment
