Miami Valley Child Development Centers is southwest Ohio’s Head Start agency. For over 55 years, we’ve been providing FREE early learning and childcare to children from 6 weeks to age 5. We focus on a two-generational approach that builds family well-being by working with children and their families to access resources, solve problems, and develop skills. Our team includes Family Support Specialists, Home Visitors, and Coaches who partner with you on this journey. Eligibility is primarily for families earning 100% or less of the Federal Poverty Level, including children experiencing homelessness, in foster or kinship care, and sometimes children with disabilities.
We offer full-day and part-day options at over 27 locations in Montgomery, Clark, and Madison counties. The Head Start program serves children ages 3 to 5 years old.

As an Assistant Teacher, you will help teach preschool children, support their growth and development, and supervise daily activities. You will assist the Lead Teacher in preparing children for kindergarten using an engaging, theme-based curriculum that balances structure with relationship-building. You will ensure active supervision of health, safety, and care standards per Head Start Performance Standards. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and assessing children’s developmental needs and evaluating daily activities for appropriateness.
40 hours, Full-Time, Full-Year, Non-Exempt.
Minimum: High School Diploma with a commitment to complete a CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development within 2 years of hire (ages birth-5).
Preferred: Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field and 1-2 years of teaching experience.
