Base pay range

$11.00/hr - $13.00/hr

Summary
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with additional hours for staffing needs/ training/staff meetings as assigned by director
  • Scope of position: The Assistant Teacher supports a cohesive teaching team, implements curriculum, manages daily classroom activities in absence of the Lead Teacher, and handles administrative duties, monitors children’s progress, and maintains records. They understand children’s development to ensure a safe, engaging environment aligned with the school's philosophy and goals.
Duties
Specific Duties:
  • Maintain a positive attitude daily
  • Support Westminster Preschool’s mission and goals
  • Build strong relationships with children and families
  • Supervise children and adhere to staff/child ratios
  • Attend all required training and events
  • Demonstrate faith and love for children, uphold Biblical values
Classroom environment:
  • Keep the classroom organized and clean
  • Assist in maintaining learning centers
  • Follow daily schedule and facilitate transitions
  • Engage actively with children during activities
  • Cover for lead teacher when absent
  • Implement activities as planned
  • Share housekeeping responsibilities
  • Complete daily cleaning checklists
Curriculum:
  • Assist with implementing curriculum and lesson plans
  • Participate in mealtimes, encourage healthy eating and positive conversations
Safety:
  • Meet health and safety standards per licensing rules
  • Follow Safe Sleep guidelines
  • Practice proper handwashing and sanitation
Communication:
  • Engage with children at eye level
  • Resolve conflicts positively
  • Communicate regularly with families via ProCare
  • Coordinate with staff and administration
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Interest in/working towards CDA or similar credential
  • Ability to learn communication software
  • Professional communication skills
Additional Requirements
  • CPR/First Aid certification, annual recertification
  • Background checks and drug screening
  • TB test and physical
  • Training in Safe Sleep, Child Safety, and other modules
  • 20 hours/year in-service training
  • Participation in staff meetings/trainings
  • Ability to care independently for assigned children
  • Knowledge of licensing and quality standards
Physical Requirements
  • Lift at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, sit, and rise without assistance
