Job Description:

New Horizons Montessori Academy (NHMA) is seeking Assistant Teachers to join our team of compassionate educators. At New Horizons Montessori Academy, we strive to instill a sense of independence, self-confidence, and wonder into our growing students - The Montessori Way.

As an Assistant Teacher, you will provide our students with a nurturing learning environment where they feel secure and valued. You will primarily assist the Lead Teacher in providing enriching learning experiences for your classroom of students.

Our Assistant Teachers act as guides for our students, ensuring they are actively engaged in the classroom. Assistant Teachers help the Lead Teacher complete crafts, plan exciting activities, maintain the classroom's organization/sanitation needs, and provide compassion and care for our young learners.

We are currently seeking Assistant Teachers for classrooms in various age groups: 6 months to 6 years old. We invite all to apply, but applicants with previous childcare or education experience are preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Guide, monitor, and supervise your classroom of students - keeping close attention to their natural interests to provide appropriate activities and work.
  2. Maintain a clean, organized, and accessible learning environment aligned with the Montessori Philosophy.
  3. Assist with diaper changes (infant-pre-primary) and/or monitoring restroom usage (pre-primary - primary).
  4. Assist the Lead Teacher in the creation, maintenance, and rotation of toys, activities, and classwork so students always have an outlet for new discoveries, independent exploration, and opportunities to learn a new skill.
  5. Communicate with parents/families as needed to meet their student's daily social/emotional/physical needs.

Job Benefits:

$17-$18/hour with paid daily breaks (30-45 minutes)

**Baby Bonding Leave: 2 months unpaid with 2 weeks bonus paid over the course of 4 months after return to NHMA

50% tuition discount for children or grandchildren enrolled at NHMA

If not Montessori Certified, New Horizons will pay for your Montessori Certification if you are selected and willing to participate in our Assistant to Lead Teacher transitional training program.

*Eligible after 90 days of service for full-time employees (40hrs/week) **Eligible after 6-month service for full-time employees (40hrs/week)

  2. All applicants must be eligible to work in the USA.
  3. All applicants must at least have their High School Diploma/GED.
  4. All applicants must be able to provide up-to-date security clearances for working with children, undergo an FBI Background Check, and provide a recent Physical/TB test.
