Job summary

University Settlement Society of New York in New York City seeks a Teacher Assistant to support daily classroom activities, conduct home visits, and provide primary care to children in a warm, inclusive program.

This full-time role requires a High School Diploma or HSE, and a CDA/Teacher Assistant Certification is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish or Chinese is a plus; schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a focus on safety, documentation, and family partnership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or HSE required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Experience working with children; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and support daily classroom activities under the Teacher.
• Conduct home visits at least twice a year for each family.
• Provide primary care to classroom children.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary classroom.
• Assist with daily classroom setup and cleanup.
• Complete and document daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
• Assist in curriculum development and implementation.
• Build strong relationships with families and children; assist in assessments.
• Attend staff and parent meetings, trainings, and events.
• Maintain up-to-date required trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
