Qualifications

Assistant Teacher Early Learning

Location: Early Learning Center

Salary: $14-15 per hour

Responsibilities include:

  1. Thinking, communicating, and behaving as a cause-driven leader and role model, promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  2. Assisting the lead teacher in supervising and implementing the curriculum, leading activities, and assisting with lesson planning and assessments.
  3. Establishing relationships with families, staff, and community partners; communicating regularly and professionally.
  4. Maintaining the program environment and equipment, assisting with cleaning.
  5. Conducting observations of children to inform curriculum and assessments.
  6. Providing appropriate affection, praise, and behavior expectations; setting firm limits with positive phrasing when necessary.
  7. Ensuring program compliance with YMCA, SUTQ, ODJFS licensing, grant, and NAEYC requirements.
  8. Establishing and monitoring individual child goals.
  9. Maintaining punctuality and following procedures for absences.
  10. Completing duties related to the Child and Adult Care Food Program if applicable.
  11. Maintaining documentation for OPDN registry profile and licensing.
  12. Attending staff meetings, training, and safety sessions.
  13. Participating in special events.
  14. Assisting in recruiting children and maintaining enrollment.
  15. Gathering necessary paperwork from families.
  16. Supporting the Lead Teacher in classroom requirements.
  17. Representing the Y professionally at local elementary schools.
  18. Administering required screenings.
  19. Maintaining confidentiality of student and school records.
  20. Entering data as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 18 years old.
  • Career Pathway Level as per SUTQ requirements.
  • Medical statement as per ODJFS standards; current training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention.
